RICHARD A. RUSSELL, ESQUIRE, has been engaged in the exclusive practice of Family Law for over 45 years. He continues to be actively involved as a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association upon which he has served since 1982. He was Chair of that Section during the 1990-1991 term. In 1995 he was honored as the tenth recipient of the Saul A. Tischler Award which is the highest honor accorded a Family Lawyer or Judge in the State of New Jersey for lifetime achievement in the Family Law field. He served on the Supreme Court Family Practice Committee continuously from 1984 to 2013, during which time he was involved in the original creation of federally mandated Child Support Guidelines in New Jersey, as well as in every major revision to those Guidelines made since (serving as Chair or Co-Chair of that Subcommittee for many years). He is widely regarded today as one of the top child support experts in the State.

Richard was honored to be chosen by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the original Matrimonial Committee of the Board on Trial Attorney Certification when New Jersey began certifying matrimonial attorneys as a separate specialty. He served on that Committee from 1996 to 2014 and also sat as its chair for the last years of his tenure. He is an Editor Emeritus of the New Jersey Family Lawyer. Over the years he has served on committees appointed by the Supreme Court to address issues important to the operation of the Family Court in New Jersey too numerous to mention. He is often called upon to lecture both at judicial education conferences and seminars run by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He has had many articles published in the New Jersey Family Lawyer on issues affecting matrimonial practice.

In 1995 Richard became a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a member of the elite group of Family Lawyers in New Jersey comprising the Matrimonial Lawyer’s Alliance. Since 2005 he has been named to the list of “Best Lawyers in America”(also known as “Super Lawyers”) which status he maintains to the present.

Richard’s current emphasis is on litigation support, mediation and arbitration.
